In many ways I have been thriving in this environment. This makes me wonder, how much of this ease is attributed to my own personality and how much of it is attributed to my millennial upbringing? So many of my social interactions throughout my life have been filtered through the eyes of technology. I remember receiving my first iPhone and texting my friends instead of calling them or meeting them in person all the time. I made my first Facebook account when I was sixteen and that opened up a whole new layer of interaction. I had control over my profile, and I could lay it all out there, in one page. It was a mixture of images and words that I could use to show “me”. I could show everyone the good parts, I could be as personal as I wanted to be without any actual human contact. This became the norm. To this day most of my interactions with my friends and family are through text or Instagram. My best friend and I often have two separate conversations going, one through text and another through Direct Messaging on Instagram. It feels natural and it feels like connection. Until I actually sat down to think about it, I didn’t really notice that almost all of my communication is through some technological avenue that requires no physical person being there. In fact, I talk to my co-workers more in person and to my friends and family more digitally. Isn’t that odd? It’s flipped. If a co-worker began to text me regularly that would seem pretty personal to me, but talking to them face to face every day is more formal. I’d like to take a moment to say that this isn’t a blanket statement saying that all millennials have adapted to quarantine easily. In fact, I know many millennials who actively pursue social interactions face to face frequently and are legitimately struggling with the change. However, I will say that their transition compared to someone who is not used to communicating with technology is somewhat easier. For work we have regular gatherings on Zoom, which is a video conferencing application. It has been amazing to me to see people who would normally never go close to anything like this, trying to tackle this technology out of sheer need for social interaction. When I worked at Apple, I was frequently met with such great resistance when trying to teach someone much older than me how to use a specific app. Now, participants in our Zoom gatherings who are older, are not only stepping out to try this, but doing it on their own! This just goes to show how important face to face time is for those who grew up with that style of communication. How hard it must be to feel isolated and not know how to use technological tools to reach out. I suppose what I am trying to say is that while there are many challenges to this temporary change of living, I find that I haven’t had to change much in the way of my communication. What does this mean? Perhaps, that I have been more socially distant before this than I realized.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Kimberley Sasan - Winter</image:title>
<image:caption>I am a born and raised Southern California girl. The weather there is a balmy 72 degrees and sunny nearly every day of the year. Last year my family and I moved to a little island off the coast of Washington state where the seasons are always in full effect. Needless to say, it has been quite an experience. Having now lived through all four seasons, I can say confidently that we have fully enjoyed it. (My husband was not so sure this city girl from SoCal would.) I have this window in my kitchen that I look out each time I stand at the sink, which works out to be no less than 10 times a day. From there, I have watched the trees outside this window change from one season to the next. At the end of the fall, I looked out into a mass of bare branches and limbs. What followed in the weeks to come was something very unexpected and unfamiliar. At first, I assured myself that, “One day in the Spring those trees will be full of leaves again.” In mid Winter I wondered, “Were those trees ever as full as I remember?” Then later I thought, “There might not have ever been leaves there.” By February I told myself, “Those trees are dead.” I never expected them to be totally bare for so long that I would actually start questioning the life in those trees. (Nor did I realize just how magical the palm trees are in the Sunshine State.) It’s no surprise to you that all of a sudden one day early this Spring, the leaves were back! I watched them go from little green buds dotting every single branch to full blown leaves so thick I couldn’t even see through to the other side. Of course, then I asked myself, “How could you have doubted?” Yet there was God with that loving smile on His face - you know the one I mean - and He said to my heart, “The day is mine, and also the night; I established the sun and moon. It was I who set all the boundaries of the earth; I made both summer and winter.” (Psalm 74:16-17) Then I realized this was not as unfamiliar as I thought. I began to recall the moments in my life when I thought something was dead and gone only to realize that it wasn’t at all. It was there beneath a Winter snow, waiting for God’s appointed time. If Winter has taught me anything, it’s that His resurrection power is at work in my life as evidently as it is in those trees outside my window. Even if I doubt, those leaves will come again. Even if I don’t see it, faith tells me it’s there. Even if I’ve declared it dead, He will breath life back into it. Now when I stand at the sink and look out that window, no less than 10 times a day, I see those leaves and say, “He has come to bring me LIFE!” (John 10:10)</image:caption>

<image:caption>President: Generation Next Ministries This year on the Generation Next Ministries website I have been inspired to have the theme of BEAUTY - Being Earnestly And Ultimately Totally You ! I have asked women from different generations, and differing passions, and walks of life to write about particular areas of their life to encourage and inspire our readers. These are women who exemplify this type of BEAUTY. Women who are confident in who they are and Who God is in them. Those who face their days with grace, courage, spunk, resourcefulness, and wisdom. Each month there will be a new woman who will be contributing to Generation Next Ministries website. Because I know these women personally, I am beyond excited to read and see what they will be sharing with us. Our year of BEAUTY began in February. In hopes of giving understanding and definition to our theme this year, I used February to write a blog on each of the words in B.E.A.U.T.Y. In March we began hearing from our contributors. With the month tabs at the top of the landing page, you will be able to access their posts as the year goes on. click below for Karen’s blog</image:caption>

      <image:title>April - Jody Senna - Home and Garden</image:title>
<image:caption>One of my dreams is to own a bed and breakfast out in the country. I’d fill it with comfy beds, crunchy chintz-covered chairs and invite you to come stay. You could join me in my organic garden as we picked fresh herbs and veggies to go into the morning’s meal. We’d talk about how you’re doing as we sipped our coffee out by the barn; how your children are growing and what crafts you’re doing and what you’re making for this year’s Thanksgiving feast. I’d tell you how God repurposed my life like a piece of fine furniture that He found at a flea market. He knew it had potential and just needed some coarse grit sanding and a good dose of TLC. I’d tell you how He took me from one state to another and placed a 7 month old grand-bit of purpose into my lap. My darling Annie. Then I’d tell you about what I’m learning as the parent of an elementary age child though I’m in my 60s; the joys and tears of helping women in their 30s as they raise their children and the grace that comes with doing this the second time around. We’d share our favorite recipes with each other, and I’d gladly share my tricks and tips for your home, health, and your heart. And most of all I’d share with you how much God loves you and how He gave you amazing talents to use for His honor. Then we’d sit and plan how you’re going to take the gift’s He’s given you to find the fulfillment for which you’ve been longing.</image:caption>

      <image:title>June - Kimberley Sasan - Minister</image:title>
<image:caption>Kimberley has dedicated her life to building God’s church in a professional capacity since 2001. In the past 20 years, she has served in various areas of ministry including women’s ministry, prayer ministry, hospitality ministry, vocalist, worship director, event coordinator, church administrator and manager, guest speaker, Bible study teacher, missionary, pastoral leadership, and consultant. Particularly gifted in leadership and speaking, she has had the privilege of ministering both nationally and internationally in settings from large conferences to small home gatherings. Whether she was speaking to a crowd of hundreds, or mentoring a friend over a cup of coffee, Kimberley’s ability to communicate God’s Word and her love for people have marked her life. Born and raised in Southern California, the daughter of a pastor, she grew up in the Church. She watched the constant example of her parents living their lives to serve and love others, and demonstrating what it means to have your life’s devotion be preaching God’s Word. She knew from an early age that she too wanted to dedicate her life to loving people and serving God’s Church. While at college in California, she was part of a thriving campus ministry through which she took every opportunity to minister. From international mission trips to leading the campus worship band, her enthusiasm for reaching people with a message of faith grew all the more. Worship became a passion of hers during these years, and leading others to experience God’s presence and love through worship continues to be a large part of her ministry. A year after Kimberley obtained a BA in Communication Studies from California State University at Long Beach, she married her first love, Shea, and they jumped right into ministry life. They attended a six month seminary program in conjunction with Fuller Seminary and then moved internationally to Manila, Philippines, where they started their ministry together. From Manila, they moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where she furthered her career in ministry by taking a full-time job at a large church. When their first daughter was born, they headed back to Southern California to be near family. Being back home in Southern California brought her even more opportunities for ministry. She continued to serve by speaking at conferences, producing women’s events, leading worship at churches throughout Orange County, and participating in church planting. As the path of ministry grew even broader in her life, she was offered an administrative management role in a prominent local church. In 2019, God led her and her family to Shea’s childhood home in the Pacific Northwest. Word of their move prompted the local community church to offer her an administrative position upon arrival, which she developed into a staff ministry role. She continues to serve at Orcas Island Community Church and has begun consulting for smaller churches and growing outreach ministries. Currently, together with their three lovely daughters, Kimberley and Shea live in a little seaside town on Orcas Island, WA. They enjoy the beauty of the Pacific Northwest and the opportunity to be near their extended family. And whether it’s leading a Sunday morning worship service or cooking a meal for a friend in her home, you’ll find Kimberley serving and encouraging others with great love and joy. It is her passion to live out her life-long commitment to glorify God and to communicate the truth of God’s Word, the power of His love, and the life of faith we can experience when we’re in relationship with Him.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Shelley McCraw grew up as an only child in a small town in Western Kentucky. Not having any siblings growing up, she always wanted a big family. Shelley married right out of high school and became a mother at 18. Although she attended the University of Kentucky, being a wife and mother became her focus—especially because she had three children within the first six years of marriage. When her youngest started school, Shelley pursued her Real Estate license and joined her husband, who was a homebuilder, in the family business as his realtor. Life seemed to be going as planned until her eyes were opened when she volunteered with an organization that advocated for children in need of foster care or adoption. As a result, their family adopted two beautiful daughters, completing her dream of a big family. Now, Shelley is in her 19th year as a realtor, serves in children's and women's ministries at her local church, and is involved in a local support group for adoptive and foster care mothers. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, decorating and renovating homes, and listening to podcasts on walks with her dog. Shelley has been married to JT for 30 years and lives in Franklin, TN with their youngest two children and Winston the Westie.</image:caption>

      <image:title>November - Thanksgiving</image:title>
<image:caption>Enter His gates with thanksgiving… Ps 100:4a This is a key scripture for understanding how to enter into God’s presence. Anywhere we are, the gates to God’s presence are open and available to us. Whether it’s a physical location, or an emotional landscape, in any circumstance our God is easily accessible to us. Being thankful, having an attitude of gratitude, changes us on the inside and spills over into our surroundings. Like an abundant, powerful, and beautiful waterfall, God’s presence prevails over all. An example of this is the Biblical story of the Samaritan woman who Jesus tells that living water can be available to her everyday. Thanksgiving is a choice that must come from our hearts. It is the sincerity of this choice that opens the gates to His presence. Our God has made the world, as well as our hearts and minds, in such a way that there is always something we can be thankful for. It could be something to see or hear in His wonder of creation, or something our minds may recall in memory or anticipation. Yet thanksgiving is more than a sentiment or attitude of thankfulness. Thanksgiving is outwardly displaying our thankfulness in words and actions. Many of life’s celebrations are such expressions of being thankful to or for someone or something. When we focus our thanksgiving on God, we are acknowledging that everything for which we have to be thankful is because of HIM WHO has made it available to us. Another expression of thanksgiving is when we enter the gates of God’s presence in an assembly or in our private time with Him. This celebration takes the form of worship, which is a powerful, beautiful, and profuse exchange of love between mankind and His creator. Perhaps the most well-known expression of thanksgiving is when we celebrate the feast of Thanksgiving. At this time, we celebrate the love and thankfulness among us which we share. We come together to express the thankfulness in our hearts for God’s great kindness and bounty with which He continues to grace our country. Thanksgiving is a day that can bring us through His gates. We can all enjoy the power, beauty, and abundance which He has bestowed so lavishly upon us as a people, and as one country under God. Under a God who simply asks us to come before Him with thanksgiving in our mouth and hearts. In doing so, He will take us under His wings and by His great power and lovingkindness heal us, strengthen us, and prepare us for the next year of growth and harvest. Another year to find an abundance of reasons to be thankful. …be thankful unto Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His loving devotion and mercy endures forever; and His Truth endures to all generations. Ps 100:4b-5 by Karen Bonasso</image:caption>

      <image:title>December - Christmas Design Choice</image:title>
<image:caption>Merry Christmas to all my readers and contributors! As I pondered this Christmas Season, and the love I have for it, I thought about all the beauty that surrounds our lives at this time of the year. So many people prepare for Christmas by decorating their homes and cities to celebrate this wonderful season. The emotions of joy and comfort that are attached to the traditions of families and cultures around the world find expression in these Christmas decorations and celebrations of the birth of Christ. I've had opportunities over the years to experience Christmas beauty in the homes and cities here and around the world. I am always intrigued by what I call “design choice.” Often I observe a unique decorative item or unique placement of it which, if not observed as part of the whole design, would be odd or even unseemly. Yet when you step back or take it in historical perspective, it glows beautifully genius. A brilliant out- of -the- box design choice! Each Christmas I contemplate and meditate on the Christmas scriptures, the story of the birth of Jesus. Year after year God points out to me aspects of the happenings, all incredible in their display of God’s amazing character and wisdom, and it’s only a short moment on the timeline of mankind. This year I was struck by eight of God's simple "design choices" specifically chronicled for us to know about this amazing birth of His Son: The angel, Gabriel, appeared to a young girl named Mary, and told her that she was going to have a special baby boy, the long awaited Messiah. He told Joseph the baby’s name was Jesus. Because of a new law, Mary and Joseph had to travel to a city far from their home. Mary was very pregnant so she sat on a donkey as they traveled. There was no place for them in a house or inn when they got to the city, named Bethlehem, so Mary had her baby boy in a stable and His crib was a manger (a box in a barn for animals to eat food). The very night that Jesus was born, God sent an angel to shepherds in a field to tell them the good news of great joy about the baby being born, and where to find the baby in the manger. God suddenly filled the sky above them with many, many angels from heaven singing a birthday song for Jesus: “Glory to God in the highest and on earth, peace and good will to men!” And the shepherds found the stable, Mary and Joseph, and the baby in the manger. The shepherds excitedly told them what the angels had said, and then went to tell everyone they knew about what had happened. God also put a very bright and unusual star in the sky when Jesus was born. A star that announced a great King had been born. This star was seen by three Magi in far away countries. They traveled all the way from their countries to see the baby and to give Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. God announced and showed this baby to the prophets Anna and Simeon, who happened to be at the place of worship that Mary and Joseph brought baby Jesus. God declared through them that this child was the Messiah. All of these simple details are the “design choices” that our triune Almighty God chose for the birth of the Savior of all mankind. So simple is this story that the youngest child can grasp it and is drawn to the joy of it. So profound is the incredulous coordination of events touching heaven and earth, that the brightest minds are drawn to the awesomeness of it. It's so emotionally impactful that the whole world celebrates the hope, peace, and joy that Christmas announces every year. May we all embrace and enjoy the beauty of this Christmas Season, and allow the Christmas Story to fill the hearts and minds of those young and old, simple and sage, with great joy, peace, and good will toward men. by Karen Bonasso</image:caption>

      <image:title>March - Irina Dragomir Thomason - Art</image:title>
<image:caption>I was born in Romania in the 1980’s and experienced a very different way of life. Romania was nearing the end of its communist regime, and things were a little rough. I remember waiting in bread lines, and using oil lamps at night, even in the city, boiling water for baths, using special built in fireplaces for heat and cooking, and gathering wood from the forest. Because my grandparents had farms we also spent some time away from the city, where I had some of the most carefree time of my life, playing in haystacks, taking sheep out to pasture, running through cornfields, going for walks through the forest, gathering water from brooks, harvesting apples and plums, and swimming in our own little lake pool. These latter memories are some of the most beautiful that I hold from my childhood, which as you can see was quite contrasting in some ways. I can be grateful for those days because they gave me a very different view of life from very early on. After communism fell my parents sought a more financially secure life in Canada, and we immigrated to Vancouver, BC, which was a very different world! I remember saying to my brother our first morning there “It’s like we’re in the movies!”. Later on I met my husband there and moved down with him to California, where I also found God and was born again. I started my art journey from an early age: I have been painting and drawing since I can remember, receiving the highest awards in high school for my art studies, and being accepted at Emily Carr, the prestigious art institute in Granville Island, BC. I continued to be involved in art after graduation, focusing on miniature painting. I hand paint famous or original works of art on eyewear for my husband’s wood glasses company, merging eyewear fashion and art. You can see some of my works at @rococo_miniature on Instagram or at sireseyewear.com I currently live in Texas with my husband, our two boys and our cat.</image:caption>

      <image:title>May - Pat Lawson— a Mother’s Heart</image:title>
<image:caption>How does one write a short bio at age 65? So many years in such a short space! I’ll give some highlights to my story. I grew up on a farm, in a small Catholic community, 12 years of Catholic school, living in the same home from cradle to college. My life changed forever while in college when introduced to the love of my soul, Jesus. In a few short years, I went into ministry and started quite an adventure. For 6 years, I served as a campus evangelist at the campuses of MTSU and LSU, spent a year traveling and ministering on roughly 20 USA campuses and abroad, relocated to Kansas at UK, and finally MSU, where I met my husband, Leo Lawson. Somehow, I equated marriage with settling down, but my single life was just a warm up! We moved 30 times in 40 years of marriage. These ministry moves were across the ocean, and back and forth throughout the USA - north, south, east, and west with a few stops in the middle. These moves are all part of the journey God has woven for me, building within me the fabric I needed to sustain the storms in life. Now, I’m settled in North Carolina, a wife, minister, mentor, mother, and Mimi. Since we are in May, we will make this a Mother’s Day blog, which happens to be a theme in my life. I have women of all ages and around the globe that call me Aunt Pat or Momma Pat. I have three amazing adult children, who officially gave me the title of mother. Along with them have come their equally fabulous spouses, and two much smaller humans who call me Mimi. Because I’m a Mimi, I make two spectacular birthday cakes a year, usually incorporating minor engineering skills. Other than that, I still hate moving and cardboard boxes, and at 65 I've gone back to school.</image:caption>

<image:caption>June is the month that Father’s Day is celebrated. This month let us give honor to the Father of us all. Let our hearts be filled with thankfulness that we all have a Father in heaven that loves us and cares for each one of us. There would be no beauty nor B.E.A.U.T.Y. without Him; No natural beauty...no spiritual beauty...no inner beauty. Our Father has gifted us beauty beyond all measure to dwell in, to access, and to enjoy. Image by Sabine Ojeil via Unsplash</image:caption>

      <image:title>July - Marita Caley - Missionary to France</image:title>
<image:caption>Marita Caley is a daughter of God who has followed His calling to the city of Paris. She grew up on a farm in South Africa but always dreamed of living in the big city. She never could have imagined that this could lead her to plant a church in Paris. As a law student she had a destiny altering encounter with the Lord and clearly felt the calling into the ministry. After completing her studies in Law, she did a “year of your life” program at her church. She went on to become the lead campus minister and lead a large campus ministry as a single women. She later pursued an opportunity to study in Los Angeles through the Every Nation School of Ministry, which gave her greater equipping for her life’s calling. For a season, she and her husband led a thriving campus ministry at the University of Johannesburg. In 2010 they planted their first church. Surprisingly, the call to France came within the first two years of this church plant. Although Marita was puzzled by this, she knew that it wouldn’t make sense to resist the Lord (remember Jonah!). After five years of God building more skills into them and getting them ready for their next ministry assignment, they moved to France in 2016 with the dream to plant churches. They planted Every Nation Paris in 2018 with a focus on reaching internationals. Three years later, they both heard from the Lord that they were to focus on reaching the French. They handed the church over in September 2021 and started an internship with a French church in the north of Paris. After a couple of months, Marita was asked to take over the leadership of the church’s School of Discipleship. Today, they continue to improve speaking French and building friendships with the French people as they share the Good News. Marita is married to Ryan and they have two sons, Daniel (15) and Evan (11). To be a wife and mother is the greatest honor of her life. She loves cooking, fashion, homemaking, having coffee with friends, running, and living in the beautiful surroundings of the South of Paris. To preach, teach, prophesy, and make disciples is what makes her come alive. She has overcome PTSD, which she has battled for two and a half years. She lives with a renewed sense of purpose and gratefulness for the gift of love and life.</image:caption>

      <image:title>August - Inspirations On Intercession</image:title>
<image:caption>When we hear the term “intercessor” we usually think it means, “someone who prays a lot.” While that may be true, this only scratches the surface of what an intercessor does. To truly understand intercession, we can look to Jesus. “Therefore He is also able to save forever those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” — Hebrews 7:25 Jesus is our intercessor. Not only did Jesus defeat death so that we could have a relationship with God, He also continues to advocate for us on a daily basis. This is an important aspect of intercession, it’s daily. An intercessor’s prayer is tenacious and persistent. Anyone can intercede, but when someone has the gift of intercession, this constant posture of prayer comes naturally. To be an intercessor is to be called to pray for a very specific purpose. It’s not just about praying for the things pressing upon our own heart — it’s praying for the things on God’s heart. This makes intercessors a crucial part of God’s will being accomplished on earth. Though the gift of intercession plays a vital role in the Kingdom of God, it is often easily unnoticed. In fact, it’s a gifting that works behind the scenes, drawing more attention from its absence. My own life is an example of this. I am the granddaughter of an intercessor and daughter of an intercessor. My husband is the grandson of an intercessor. Both of our lives have been greatly impacted by their prayers, probably in more ways than we even realize. Whenever I meet someone who has experienced blessing in their life, there is usually an intercessor somewhere in their family tree. I believe that this is one of God’s designs for this particular gift — He designed it to be generational! During the month of October, we will be taking a closer look at the gift of intercession and how it relates to B.E.A.U.T.Y. (Being Earnestly and Ultimately Totally You)!</image:caption>

<image:caption>“I have been — and remain — very grateful to you for your prayers and to God for his steadfast love. I have indeed seen His faithfulness.” — Queen Elizabeth II On September 8, 2022 the world was saddened by the news that Queen Elizabeth II had passed away. Her reign spanned 70 years, making her the longest reigning monarch in history. Those 70 years were filled with trials and triumphs, yet what remained constant, and perhaps her most astounding achievement, was her faith and reliance on God. This month, we will be honoring her memory by looking at her legacy of faith, and how this faith contributed to the B.E.A.U.T.Y. of her reign.</image:caption>

      <image:title>December - Inspirations on Wonder</image:title>
<image:caption>Christmas Wonder: Celebration of The Birth of Jesus Christ... Announced in the Heavens to all the World. Ps 107:8,9 Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness. Psalm 117 Praise the Lord, all you nations: praise Him, all you people. For His merciful kindness is great towards us: and the truth of the Lord endures for ever. Praise the Lord. Psalm 19:1-4 The heavens declare the glory of God: and the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night shows knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.</image:caption>
