Eleanor Marie Wells

Inspirations on a U.S.Veteran

Eleanor Marie Wells was a U.S. Army nurse during World War II. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on November 11, 1922. When her father was a young man he attempted to be a banker, but realized that he was creative and artistic. He left banking to become a stage actor and turned the head of his high society girlfriend and the two eloped. By all accounts they had a happy marriage but the life of an actor was one of want at the turn of that century. Eleanor was their fourth child. At the tender age of 3, Eleanor’s mother died of TB and her father died a year later of a broken heart. Eleanor found herself orphaned and living with her uncle’s family. Eventually she went to live in a convent school when she was around 7 years old.

The rest of her story is continued in this months blogs…
